Adobe Express text to speech: add a voiceover to your design

Adobe Express can turn a script into a voiceover for social videos, slideshows and animated posts. It is handy for quick narration, but you choose from its own list of speakers, and some projects need a particular character, a brand narrator or your own voice.

This guide shows the built-in steps from Adobe Help and how to bring in any other voice made with SuperClonica.

Add a voiceover in Adobe Express

According to Adobe Help for the mobile app, open a design, select the plus icon and then Media. In the Media panel select Audio and then Voiceover. Type or paste your text into the Script field, choose a Speaker and a Style from the dropdown menus, select Generate audio and then Add to design. Labels can differ slightly on the desktop version.

Write a script that sounds natural

Short sentences read best: one idea per sentence, numbers written as they should be spoken and full stops where you want a pause. Read the script aloud once yourself; if you run out of breath, split the sentence.

When you need a different voice

A meme, a fan video or a branded series may need a voice that is not on the speaker list: a movie or game character, an anime voice or a narrator who matches your brand. Hear catalog voices free on their pages with a line of 30 to 100 characters, no account needed, and download the line you like.

Bring the audio into your design

Save the file and add it to your Adobe Express design as an audio file, then trim it to the scene like any other track. For a whole series, voice the lines on a computer with the free engine, installed with python -m pip install superclonica-cpu, one file per scene, with the same voice and seed so every episode matches.

Your own voice and fair use

Train your own voice once in the studio from a clean 5 to 10 second recording, and every script can be read in it. Character voices in the catalog are fan-made; share designs that use them as fan content, not as official material. The engine speaks 31 languages; Chinese is not supported yet.
