GUIDE

A TTSFree alternative without a monthly character limit

TTSFree.com is a popular free text-to-speech site: it reads text in more than 140 languages and downloads MP3. In October 2026 its free plan gave 500,000 characters a month, conversions of about 500 characters and at least 50 conversions a day with standard voices; Basic at $5 a month raised that to 2 million characters and 10,000 per conversion, and Premium at $20 to 10 million, premium voices and an API. It also lets you use the audio commercially, even after a subscription ends.

If you hit the per-conversion limit with long texts, or want a voice with more character than a standard narrator, this guide shows when SuperClonica fits better.

Where TTSFree is strong

More than 140 languages, including many that SuperClonica does not speak, a simple web page, MP3 download and background music. For a short announcement in a rare language it is a quick choice.

No character limit on your computer

The free SuperClonica engine runs on your own processor, so there is no monthly quota and no limit per conversion: a whole chapter is one command. Install it with python -m pip install superclonica-cpu and run superclonica --text-file chapter.txt --voice F2 --lang en --output chapter.wav. The engine splits long texts at natural pauses.

Voices with character

Besides ten stock voices that may be used commercially, the SuperClonica catalog has about 190 voices: narrators, announcers and fan-made characters from games, anime and films. Try any of them free on a line of 30 to 100 characters on its page, with no account.

For apps

Instead of a per-character plan, the SuperClonica speech API counts seconds of audio: a free key gives 3 minutes a day, and paid plans start at $5 a month. It accepts texts of up to 20,000 characters in one request.

Which to choose

TTSFree for many languages and quick MP3s in a browser. SuperClonica for long texts offline, character voices and the 31 languages of Supertonic 3. Chinese is not supported in SuperClonica yet.
