Loudspeaker car ad voice: street ads that people understand
A car with a loudspeaker on the roof, driving slowly through the neighborhood: a sale at the store, a circus in town, a local event this weekend. It is called perifoneo in Mexico and carro de som in Brazil, and it lives on one short message repeated again and again. A text-to-speech voice lets you change that message the same day, without booking an announcer.
SuperClonica has clear, energetic voices, free to try online, and a free engine that writes MP3 files ready for the USB player in the car. This guide shows how to write an ad people catch from a passing car, how to make it carry outdoors and which voices you can use for paid work.
Voices for street ads
Energetic Narrator and Energetic Katya were recorded in Russian and may keep a slight accent in other languages; for paid ads in your language, the stock voices or a voice trained on a local speaker are the safer choice.
- The ten stock voices of the model: clear male and female voices, free and safe for paid ads.
- Energetic Narrator: clear emphasis that keeps a short ad lively.
- Energetic Katya: a lively young female voice for store sales and events.
- Your own voice, trained in the SuperClonica studio, if the store wants a voice that is only theirs.
Voice your ad free online
On the page of any voice, type a line of 30 to 100 characters, for example “Big sale this Saturday at Lopez Furniture, on Main Street!”, choose the language and press Voice it. In a few seconds you can listen and download the recording, with no account.
Write an ad people catch
Listen to the ad on a phone speaker once: if it is clear there, it will be clear on the street.
- Say what, where and when in the first ten seconds, then say it again: people hear the car for a few seconds only.
- Write phone numbers in words, grouped the way people say them: digits are read as one big number, so 555 1234 becomes “five hundred and fifty-five, one thousand…”.
- Write prices and percent in words, since signs such as $ and % are skipped.
- Short sentences with full stops: they stay clear through an outdoor speaker.
Make it carry outdoors
Horn speakers on cars carry the middle of the voice and little bass, so keep the music light and the voice well above it, and compress the voice so every word reaches the sidewalk. Add two or three seconds of silence at the end so the loop breathes. With the free engine: python -m pip install superclonica-cpu, then superclonica --text-file ad.txt --voice M4 --lang en --normalize --output ad.mp3. --normalize keeps every version at the same loudness, and MP3 plays on almost any USB player and amplifier.
Paid work and the street
For a paid ad, use the ten stock voices, M1 to M5 and F1 to F5, free under the OpenRAIL-M license, or your own voice trained in the SuperClonica studio from a recording of a speaker who agreed. Character and parody voices from the catalog are not for advertising, and never imitate a real announcer or a famous person. Many cities limit the hours and volume of loudspeaker ads, so check the local rules before you drive.
