Instagram Reels text to speech in 31 languages

Instagram’s Reels editor can read a text box aloud, and for a quick English reel that is often enough. According to Instagram’s Help Center, though, the feature is available only in English and only in some countries, and the same few voices are heard on countless reels.

SuperClonica voices your text in 31 languages, with narrator, character and meme voices, free to try online. This guide shows when Instagram’s own voices are enough, how to get a SuperClonica voice into a reel and how to voice a whole series at once.

What Instagram’s own text to speech can do

For a quick English reel in a supported country, the built-in voices are the simplest choice.

  • In the Reels editor, a text box can be read aloud by one of several voices, previewed before you pick one.
  • Instagram’s Help Center lists it as English-only, in select countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and India.
  • Everyone who has the feature hears the same voices.
  • For another language or a character voice, you bring your own audio.

Voice a line free online

On the page of any voice, type a line of 30 to 100 characters, choose the language and press Voice it. In a few seconds you can listen and download the recording, with no account, also from a phone browser.

Put the voice into your reel

Keep music well below the voice: on a phone speaker, a quiet narrator disappears under a loud track.

  • Voice each line and download the recordings.
  • Make the reel in an editor such as CapCut, Clipchamp or Canva: put the voice on the audio track under the clips.
  • Add captions in the editor, so viewers who watch without sound can follow.
  • Export the finished video and upload it to Instagram as a reel.

A whole series of reels offline

For a weekly series or reels in several languages, install the free SuperClonica engine on a computer: python -m pip install superclonica-cpu. Save each script as a text file and voice it with one command: superclonica --text-file reel01.txt --voice narrator.json --lang en --normalize --output reel01.mp3. --normalize keeps every reel at the same loudness, and the engine runs offline on an ordinary processor with no character limit.

Voices and rights

For a brand or a monetized account, use the ten stock voices of the model or your own voice trained from a recording of a speaker who agreed. Character voices in the catalog are fan-made and not endorsed by the rights holders: keep them for parody and fan content. Never make a voice that imitates a real person say things they did not say.
