D&D narrator voice: AI voices for tabletop RPGs

A game master already plays every character at the table. Pre-voiced lines take some of that load: an opening narration in a grand voice, a villain’s monologue that sounds nothing like you, an innkeeper the players will remember. Your own voice stays free for improvisation.

The SuperClonica catalog has fantasy narrators, villains and characters for Supertonic 3. This guide shows how to cast them, how to write lines for the table and how to prepare a whole session offline. SuperClonica is not affiliated with Wizards of the Coast or any game publisher.

A cast for your table

Give each recurring character one voice for the whole campaign, so players recognize who is speaking before they see the name.

  • Narrators: Keeper of the Light, a kind old wizard for legends; Zeus, low and unhurried for proclamations; Saruman, deep and commanding, recorded in English.
  • Villains: Wraith King for royal monologues in dark stories, Visage for a grim warning from beyond, Death Prophet for quiet, eerie prophecies.
  • Allies and tavern folk: Kunkka the slow-speaking captain, Chen for a paladin’s oath, Dawnbreaker for a speech before battle, Geralt of Rivia for haggling over a contract.
  • Comic relief: the two heads of Ogre Magi, one hot-headed and one sensible.

Try a line free online

On the page of any voice, paste a line of 30 to 100 characters, choose the language and press Voice it. In a few seconds you hear whether the voice fits your villain or your innkeeper and can download the recording. No account is needed.

Write for the table

Number the files by scene, such as 03-tavern-innkeeper.mp3, and keep them in one folder per session.

  • Read-aloud text short: three or four sentences, then hand the scene back to the players.
  • NPC lines in character, with the words they would use.
  • Respell made-up names the way you pronounce them at the table.
  • Split long speeches into several files, so you can stop when the players interrupt.

Prepare a session offline

Buy the voices once, download their files and install the free SuperClonica engine: python -m pip install superclonica-cpu. Voice each line with one command and save it straight to MP3: superclonica --text "The gates of the old keep stand open. Something inside has been waiting for you." --voice keeper-of-the-light.json --lang en --output 01-opening.mp3. The engine runs offline on an ordinary processor; by our estimate a ten-second line takes one to two seconds on a desktop CPU, fast enough to voice a forgotten line between turns.

Homebrew and fair use

Voice your own homebrew freely. Recordings of a published adventure’s read-aloud text are for your private table, not for publishing. Character voices are fan-made and not endorsed by the rights holders; if you stream your game, treat them as fan works and say so. For a narrator in your own voice, train it in the studio from a clean phrase of 5 to 10 seconds.
