A TTSMaker alternative without limits, offline
TTSMaker is a free online text-to-speech website: paste text, pick one of many voices and languages, and download the audio. It is quick for short texts, but the amount of text per conversion is limited, everything is generated on its servers, and you cannot use your own voice or take a voice with you.
SuperClonica has the same quick start, a free online test on every voice page, plus a free engine that voices texts of any length on your own computer. This page compares the two honestly.
Two different setups
For a sentence, any website will do; for a book, a course or a hundred files, an engine on your own computer saves time.
- TTSMaker: a website; many voices and languages; text length per conversion is limited; audio is made on its servers.
- SuperClonica: a free online test of 30 to 100 characters on every voice page, and a free engine with no length limit on your computer.
- SuperClonica voices speak 31 languages; Chinese is not supported yet.
- SuperClonica adds character voices and voices trained from your own recordings.
When TTSMaker is enough
If you only need a few short clips now and then, in a language Supertonic 3 does not speak, or you cannot install anything on your computer, a website such as TTSMaker is the simpler choice.
When SuperClonica fits better
The same text, voice and seed always give the same audio, so a corrected sentence matches the rest.
- Long texts: chapters, courses, articles with no splitting by hand.
- Many files: a whole set of prompts or lines in one run.
- Private texts: nothing leaves your computer.
- Your own voice, a character voice or the same narrator across a whole project.
Voice a long text offline
Try any voice first on its page with a line of 30 to 100 characters, free and without an account. Then install the free engine with python -m pip install superclonica-cpu, save your script as a text file and run superclonica --text-file script.txt --voice M3 --lang en --output voice.mp3. Long texts are split at natural pauses and joined into one file, with no character limit; an hour of audio takes several minutes on an ordinary desktop processor.
What it costs
The engine and the ten stock voices of the model are free, and several catalog voices are free too. Other voices are bought once and stay yours. Online websites like TTSMaker have their own free limits and paid options; check them on the site before you compare.
