An AllTalk TTS alternative for Mac and plain CPUs
AllTalk TTS is a popular local text-to-speech server for SillyTavern, text-generation-webui, KoboldCPP and Home Assistant. Version 2 wraps several engines, Coqui XTTS, Coqui VITS, Piper, Parler and F5, adds RVC voice conversion, a Gradio interface, finetuning and an OpenAI-compatible API, and is released under AGPL-3.0.
Its own README is also clear about the limits: setup utilities are for Windows and Linux, Mac installation is described as theoretical and untested with no GPU acceleration on Apple Silicon, AMD support is limited and experimental, and the author writes that his time for the project has become very limited. If one of those is your situation, this guide shows a simpler route.
What AllTalk does well
Many engines behind one interface, voice cloning with XTTS, finetuning on your own recordings, a narrator mode for different character and narration voices, bulk generation and ready integrations with chat front ends. With an NVIDIA graphics card and DeepSpeed it is fast, and for an all-in-one local voice server it is hard to beat.
Where SuperClonica is different
SuperClonica is one engine for one model, Supertonic 3, installed with python -m pip install superclonica-cpu on Windows, macOS with Apple Silicon or Linux. It runs on an ordinary processor, no graphics card needed, and speaks 31 languages. Voices are small JSON files: ten stock voices that may be used commercially, about 190 catalog voices, or your own trained in the studio.
Licenses to check
AllTalk itself is AGPL-3.0, and each engine brings its own model license; the XTTS weights, for example, do not allow commercial use. The SuperClonica engine is Apache-2.0 and the Supertonic 3 model is OpenRAIL-M, so the stock voices may be used commercially.
SillyTavern, Open WebUI and Home Assistant
If you used AllTalk for its OpenAI-compatible endpoint, our guide to an OpenAI-compatible TTS server shows a small tested server that puts the SuperClonica engine behind /v1/audio/speech for SillyTavern, Open WebUI and similar apps. For Home Assistant there is a separate guide with a shell command.
Which to choose
Keep AllTalk if you want XTTS cloning, several engines and RVC on an NVIDIA machine. Choose SuperClonica for a light install that works the same on a Mac, a laptop CPU or a server, for character voices from the catalog, or for commercial use of the stock voices.
