GUIDE

A LuvVoice alternative without a monthly character cap

LuvVoice is a popular online text to speech site: according to its own page, it offers more than 200 voices in over 70 languages, MP3 downloads and a free plan of up to 10,000 characters a month, with voice cloning and an API on paid plans.

When the monthly allowance runs out, or when you want character voices or to work offline, SuperClonica is the alternative. This guide compares the two honestly, including what LuvVoice does better.

Where SuperClonica is different

The free SuperClonica engine runs on your own computer, on an ordinary processor: after the first model download it works offline and has no character limit at all, so a whole book costs nothing. Online, every voice page lets you voice a phrase of 30 to 100 characters for free without an account. The catalog has character, narrator, announcer and game voices made by authors, and in the studio you can train a voice of your own from a recording.

Where LuvVoice is the better fit

LuvVoice covers more languages: over 70, against the 31 of Supertonic 3, which runs SuperClonica and does not speak Chinese yet. If you only need a few short texts a month in the browser, in a language SuperClonica lacks, LuvVoice’s free plan may be all you need.

For developers

LuvVoice lists its API on paid plans. The SuperClonica speech API gives a free key with a minute of audio a day, streams from about 300 ms in our measurements, and its Starter plan costs $5 a month for up to 3 minutes of speech in every 10-minute window. Every catalog voice works by its ID on any plan.

Move a project over

Open the SuperClonica catalog and voice a sentence of your real text with two or three voices to pick one. For long texts, install the engine with python -m pip install superclonica-cpu and voice a .txt file straight to MP3; the guide to text to MP3 shows the command. Check the result once, then voice the rest in one go.
