YouTube Live chat TTS: read chat aloud on your stream
Text to speech is a stream classic: a viewer types, the stream hears it. On YouTube there is no switch for it, because YouTube itself does not read live chat aloud. Streamers add it with a separate tool that watches the chat and plays the voice through OBS.
This guide compares the usual tools and shows how to make the messages speak in a voice of your choice, from a calm narrator to a game or cartoon character.
Social Stream Ninja: free, for several platforms
Social Stream Ninja is free and open source. It gathers messages from YouTube, Twitch, TikTok, Facebook, Kick and other sites into one dashboard and, according to its site, can turn chat messages into speech with free and premium TTS services. It is the quickest way to hear YouTube chat without writing anything yourself.
Streamer.bot: full control
Streamer.bot connects to YouTube with your broadcaster account and offers YouTube triggers, so an action can run when a chat event or a paid message arrives. Point that action at a small script, and the text is voiced by the free SuperClonica engine on your PC: our Streamer.bot guide has the script and the Run a Program settings, which work the same with a YouTube trigger instead of a Twitch reward.
Streamlabs alerts for Super Chats
If you already use Streamlabs, its Alert Box offers YouTube alert types, including Super Chats, and text to speech for alerts needs an Alert Box source in your scene. This reads paid messages rather than all chat, which keeps the stream calm.
Your own voices
The built-in voices of these tools sound alike on every stream. With SuperClonica you choose: listen to any voice free on its page with a line of 30 to 100 characters, then use the ten stock voices, which are free and allowed on monetized streams, or buy a character voice once for $2.99. Character voices are for parody and fan fun; never make it sound as if a real person said something.
Keep chat TTS under control
Read only paid messages or messages with a command, cut long texts, filter words and add a cooldown. Viewers can type anything, so moderate TTS like chat itself.
