Camtasia text to speech: AI voices for your screen recordings
In Camtasia, AI narration comes from Camtasia Audiate: its AI voice generator turns a script into speech, which you export and bring into the video project. TechSmith lists premium voices for eligible subscriptions, such as Camtasia Pro and Camtasia Create, and a default voice collection for all Audiate users.
If you want a voice outside that library, a character, a narrator in your own voice, or narration made offline without a subscription, voice the script with the SuperClonica engine and import the audio into Camtasia like any other file. This guide shows how.
Try a voice free
On any SuperClonica voice page, type a sentence of 30 to 100 characters from your script, choose the language and press Voice it. You can listen and download it in a few seconds, with no account, and compare narrators on your own words.
Voice each scene offline
Install the free engine with python -m pip install superclonica-cpu. Save the narration of each scene as its own text file, for example scenes/01.txt, scenes/02.txt, and voice them all with one line: for f in scenes/*.txt; do superclonica --text-file "$f" --voice F2 --lang en --output "${f%.txt}.wav"; done. Each scene gets a WAV file of the same name, so a change to one scene means voicing one file again. The engine runs offline on an ordinary processor, with no character limit.
Add the audio in Camtasia
In the Media Bin, click Import Media and choose the WAV files, then drag each one to its own audio track on the timeline under the screen recording. Line up each scene with the action on screen, and use the clip speed or a short pause in the text if the narration runs ahead. When you replace a file with a new version, keep the same name to find it easily.
Voices for tutorials and demos
Calm narrators such as Pleasant Announcer and Business Male Voice suit tutorials and product demos; the ten stock voices of the model, M1 to M5 and F1 to F5, are free in the engine; character voices fit intros and jokes. A narrator in your own voice can be made in the studio from a short recording and trained on a computer with an NVIDIA graphics card; record only your own voice or one you have permission to use.
