Auctioneer voice generator: make a fast bid-calling chant

The auctioneer chant is instantly recognisable: numbers rolling out at high speed, held together by filler words. People want it for charity auction intros, funny videos, games, school plays and ringtones, but few can chant like that themselves.

This guide shows how to write a chant, voice it fast with the free SuperClonica engine and choose a voice that keeps the numbers clear.

Write the chant

A chant repeats the bid already made and the bid being asked for, with short filler words in between, for example: “Ten dollar bid, now twenty, now twenty, will ya give me twenty? Twenty dollar bid, now thirty, thirty, who’ll give thirty?” Keep the numbers on the beat and the filler short so the line flows. End with a clear “Sold!” and the winning number. Write numbers as words if you want a particular reading.

Make it fast

The engine’s speed setting goes from 0.7 to 2.0; the default is 1.05, and 2.0 is twice as fast. Install the free engine with python -m pip install superclonica-cpu and run, for example, superclonica --text-file chant.txt --voice voice.json --lang en --speed 1.6 --normalize --output chant.wav. Try 1.4 to 1.8 first: the faster the chant, the harder the numbers are to catch. Use commas for tiny breaths and full stops for longer pauses between lots.

Choose the voice

Try voices free on their pages with one line of the chant, 30 to 100 characters, no account needed. Announcer and sports announcer voices keep numbers crisp at speed; a character voice turns the chant into a comedy bit. The free online try plays at normal speed, so speed it up in the engine once you have chosen.

Where a recorded chant fits

A recording cannot take real bids, so at a live auction it works as an intro, between lots or as a sound effect, while a person runs the sale. In videos, games, school plays, ringtones and memes you can use the whole chant. Mix it with a gavel sound in any audio editor for the finish.

Chants in other languages

Write the chant in your language with your own currency and filler words and choose that language: the engine speaks 31 languages; Chinese is not supported yet. Numbers sound different at speed in every language, so listen to a few bids before you voice the whole chant.
