GUIDE

A Fish Audio alternative without monthly credits

Fish Audio is popular for its huge library of community voices, from anime characters to game narrators, and for cloning a voice from a short sample. Its free plan gives 8,000 credits a month, which its pricing page puts at up to 7 minutes of generation, and its FAQ says free users may use what they make only for personal, non-commercial projects; more time and commercial use start with paid plans from $11 a month.

If you want to voice more than a few minutes, or to keep everything on your own computer, the free SuperClonica engine voices text without limits, offline, and the catalog adds narrator and character voices you can try online. This guide compares the two honestly.

Try a voice online first

On the page of any voice in the catalog, paste a line you voiced with Fish Audio, 30 to 100 characters, choose the language and press Voice it. In a few seconds you can compare, with no account.

Voice as much as you want, offline

Install the engine once with python -m pip install superclonica-cpu; it runs on Windows, macOS and Linux on an ordinary processor, and after the one-time model download it works offline. Voice a whole script with one command: superclonica --text-file script.txt --voice M4 --lang en --normalize --output script.mp3. There are no credits and no length cap per generation: a long text simply takes a while, and a graphics card only makes it faster.

Character voices and what you may do with them

The SuperClonica catalog has character voices from anime, games and films alongside narrators, and every catalog voice can be tried free online. Character voices are for fan and parody use, like most character voices you find on community platforms. For anything you are paid for, use the ten stock voices of the Supertonic 3 model, M1 to M5 and F1 to F5, which may be used commercially under the OpenRAIL-M license, or a voice trained from your own recording or from someone who agreed.

Self-hosting

Fish Audio also publishes model weights, under its own Fish Audio Community License and, for some models, a separate research license; read them before any commercial use. Its newest models are large and run on a powerful graphics card. The SuperClonica engine is a pip package that runs on an ordinary processor, on your desktop or on a cheap server.

Which one to choose

Choose Fish Audio for the widest choice of community voices, instant cloning from a sample, Chinese, and an online editor you do not have to install. Choose SuperClonica for long or frequent voicing without credits, offline work and privacy, stock voices you may use commercially without a subscription, and simple deployment on ordinary servers.
