Voxal Voice Changer or AI character voices, and how to combine them
Voxal Voice Changer by NCH Software changes your voice in real time on Windows and Mac, for Discord, TeamSpeak and games. SuperClonica does something else: you type a line and get a recording in a character voice, an announcer or your own trained voice.
This guide compares them using Voxal’s own feature list, and shows how the two can work together.
What Voxal does
According to NCH Software, Voxal runs on Windows 7 to 11 and macOS, and its free version is available for non-commercial, home use. It changes your microphone live with effects such as robot, girl, boy, alien, atmospheric and echo, lets you create your own effects, and can also apply effects to existing audio files. NCH names Discord, TeamSpeak and Steam games among the apps it works with.
Live voice or prepared lines
For talking live in a call, a match or a stream, a real-time voice changer like Voxal is the right tool: it keeps your timing and reactions, though under an effect you still sound like yourself. For prepared lines, such as memes, alerts, a soundboard, a video or a game, text to speech lets a voice of its own say the line: a game hero, a cartoon character, an announcer. Hear voices free on their pages with a line of 30 to 100 characters, no account needed.
Use them together
Because Voxal can process existing files, the two combine well: voice a line with SuperClonica, then give it a robot, echo or radio effect in Voxal. Install the free engine with python -m pip install superclonica-cpu, buy and download a voice, and run superclonica --text "System online. All doors are locked." --voice voice.json --lang en --normalize --output line.wav. The engine writes a WAV file that any audio tool can open.
Use voices fairly
Whatever tool you use, do not pretend to be a real person and do not use another voice to deceive anyone. Character voices in the catalog are fan-made, for fan works, parody and personal projects; for a voice of your own, train it in the studio from a 5 to 10 second recording.
