GPS navigation voice generator: “turn left” lines for videos and pranks
The calm voice that says “In 200 metres, turn left” is one of the most recognisable voices in the world, and people love to make it say other things: a joke in a video, a prank for a friend, a game or a short film.
This guide shows how to make such lines free with AI voices, how to keep them sounding like a navigator, and how to really change the voice inside Google Maps and Waze. It is a style, not Google’s own voice, which no third party can offer.
Pick a navigator-style voice
Navigation voices are calm, clear and slightly flat, with even pauses. In the SuperClonica catalog, the announcer voices and the calm female and male stock voices fit best. Listen to one or two demos before choosing.
Voice a line free online
On the page of a voice, type a line of 30 to 100 characters, such as “In 200 metres, turn left. Then keep calm and carry on.”, choose the language and press Voice it. In a few seconds you can listen and download the recording, with no account.
Write it like a navigator
Start with distance and direction, then the action: “In 300 metres, take the second exit.” Use full stops for the short pauses navigators make, write numbers the way they are spoken, and put the joke at the end, where the listener expects one more instruction.
Change the real voice in Maps or Waze
On Android, Google Maps speaks with the phone’s text to speech engine, chosen under Preferred engine in the system settings, so changing the engine changes the Maps voice and other apps too. Waze lets you pick another voice under Current voice, or record every instruction yourself; our custom Waze voice guide shows how to record lines voiced here.
Keep it fair
A navigator-style line is fine for jokes, videos and your own projects. Do not present it as an official announcement from Google or Apple, and do not use it to mislead drivers.
