Yandex Alice voice: who it is and what to use instead
People often look for the voice of Alice, the Yandex assistant, to voice a video or a joke. Here is who stands behind it, why SuperClonica has no copy, and what you can use instead.
Who voices Alice
Yandex announced Alice in 2017. Her voice is synthetic, but it has a living prototype: the actress Tatyana Shitova, who also dubs Scarlett Johansson’s heroines in Russian.
Why we offer no copy
This voice comes from a real person and belongs to another company’s product, so SuperClonica does not offer a clone of it. A catalog voice named Alisa is a separate voice and has nothing to do with Yandex. To copy a real person’s voice you need that person’s consent.
A similar mood
If you need a calm, even, friendly female voice, open the female voices in the catalog and test a typical line of 30 to 100 characters on a voice’s page, free and with no account. Listen for evenness and clear words; that is what makes an assistant sound like an assistant.
Voice a whole text
For long text, install the free engine with python -m pip install superclonica-cpu and run: superclonica --text-file text.txt --voice F2 --lang en --output voice.wav. F2 is one of ten stock voices, and a voice file from the catalog works in its place. The first run downloads the model once, about 400 MB; after that it works offline on an ordinary processor.
Lines that sound like an assistant
Keep sentences short and put one thought in each. Write out numbers and units the way they are spoken. Use a period where a pause belongs. To make the pace steadier, change --speed: a higher value is faster.
